F.A.Q.

Is the sole suede?

How do you measure the heel height?

Can I walk outside in these shoes?

Do you have half sizes?

If I’m a half size, and you don’t stock half sizes, do I go for the slightly bigger size or slightly smaller?

I’m a beginner, what heel size do I choose?

How do I know what size I am in your range of dance shoes?

I want a different colour/heel/size to what’s available in your stock range, can you get it for me?

Some of your fields in your shopping cart are in yellow and you use white writing, so I cant see what I am writing!

My shoe has a buckle on the strap and a hook on the shoe.  How do I do this up?

Q: Is the sole suede?

A: Yes, all JQDance dance shoes and dance boots are made with suede soles.

Q: How do you measure the heel height?

A: The heel of JQDance shoes and boots are measured from the top of the back of the heel to the floor. But other methods take the measurement from the inside end of the shoe to the ground. So in the example below, we measure this heel to be a 3 inch, but other methods may measure it to be a 2.75 inch.

Q: Can I walk outside in these shoes?

A: It is not recommended to use your dance shoes for purposes other than dancing, as the suede soles are very soft and can be easily damaged from walking on rough surfaces, treading in water or other liquids, so don’t take them on shopping marathons or sight seeing trips. However, we’ll keep one eye shut if you take a 1 minute walk wearing them from your car to the dance floor.

Q: Do you have half sizes?

A: Normally, there’s only around a 5mm difference between sizes, we don’t stock half sizes.

Q: If I’m a half size, and you don’t stock half sizes, do I go for the slightly bigger size or slightly smaller?

A: Generally, if you have wider feet, then go for the slightly bigger size. So, if you’re an Aus size 8.5, go for Aus size 9. If you have narrower feet, then the slightly smaller size will hold you in the shoe better.

Q: I’m a beginner, what heel size do I choose?

A: Choose the one you’re most comfortable or used to wearing. If you wear flats most of the time, then your center of balance is used to flat shoes, so jazz shoes or smaller heels are better. If you’re used to wearing stilettos, then it’s ok to pick a higher heel, as this is what you’re most used to for walking.

Q: How do I know what size I am in your range of dance shoes?

A: We have a sizing chart that gives you a comparison of the major sizing systems, as well as instructions on how to measure your feet to find out your size in our range. Please look up the ‘Measurements’ page for relevant info.

Q: I want a different colour/heel/size to what’s available in your stock range, can you get it for me?

A: Yes we do tailor-made orders to suit your needs for a small premium, so please contact us via email or phone to discuss your request.

Q: Some of your fields in your shopping cart are in yellow and you use white writing, so I cant see what I am writing!

A: This is a feature of Firefox browser, not our website, and happens when you install the Google Toolbar.

You can stop Firefox doing this by going to the “Settings” button on the right hand side of the toolbar and click on “Options”. Now look down the page for “Autofill Settings” and click that. Down the bottom of that page it says

“highlight fields on webpages that autofill can update in yellow”

- unselect that option and then click "OK".

Now refresh the page - problem solved!

Q: My shoe has a buckle on the strap and a hook on the shoe.  How do I do this up?

A: Please see photo instructions on How to Buckle Up, on the 'About Our Products' drop down menu.
